Common problems after printing with water-based acrylic ink

2020-11-30

With the continuous improvement of people's awareness of environmental protection, water-based inks have attracted more and more attention due to their low pollution, low volatility, non-toxicity, and no peculiar smell. As the binder of the water-based ink, the performance of the acrylic resin will greatly affect the quality of the ink. Then there are the following common problems after printing with water-based acrylic ink.

1. Adhesion

Some performance is attached but there will be penetration phenomenon, this mainly considers the surface roughness and similar compatibility.

2. Glossiness

3. Wear resistance

If printing on products that require high abrasion resistance, choose a model with high Tg.

4. Resolubility

This is related to the acid value. Generally, the higher the acid value, the better the resolubility, but the lower the water resistance.

5. Drying speed is too slow

Water-based ink uses water as a solvent, and its volatilization speed is not as fast as other solvents. Generally, a small amount of alcohol can be added to the solvent to increase the drying speed. Secondly, when printing, keep it under alkaline conditions, usually the pH is around 8.5.

6. Transparency

Generally, the higher the molecular weight, the higher the transparency.

7. Metastatic

It needs considering the moderate viscosity.
