What is polyamide resin?

2019-07-08

Polyamide (PA, commonly known as nylon) is the first resin developed by DuPont in the United States for fiber, which was industrialized in 1939. In the 1950s, the development and production of injection molded products began to replace metals to meet the requirements of lighter weight and lower cost of downstream industrial products.

The high purity polyamide resin is a polycondensation type polymer compound having -CONH structure in a molecule, which is usually obtained by polycondensation of a dibasic acid and a diamine. And it has good chemical resistance and can resist acid and alkali, vegetable oil, mineral oil and so on.

The most prominent advantage of high gloss polyamide resin is that the softening point is particularly narrow, unlike other thermoplastic resins, which have a gradual cure or softening process which causes rapid solidification when the temperature is slightly below the melting point.

Due to the properties and excellent properties of the polyamide resin, it is widely used in various fields. Nowadays, the demand for polyamide resin in the market is increasing, showing that its prospects are considerable.
